Embracing the dichotomy
Hello beautiful human, this barreling toward the end of the year has given me emotional whiplash. Navigating the spectrum of human emotions is exhausting. The mask is cracking, can I tape it together enough to make it to a place relatively unscathed, escaping self sabotage. A place where I can refresh and no longer have to wear it. Oh, to be maskless 100 % of the time. How much energy could be saved for interesting, fun pursuits. In the meantime, embracing the dichotomy. For what is good is really, really good. Sending love light and appreciation. Thank you for being here.
GAME
In a world
Where arrogance is plenty
The assumption that rightness
Is finite
Is a birthright
That agreeability is certain
If one know how to play all sides
Each one seemingly unaware
I see their odds being stacked
No regard for rules
Or casualties
It’s sickening, really
Proximity gives me
A front and center view
To a game
In which
I was an unwitting draft
Made in the name of keeping the team together
A team that is no longer
So here I stand
Alone
Holding the ball
Strategizing
Will I leave it on the court
To win
At my own expense
Or abandon the game
Altogether - Heidi White 12/23/25
SERVE
They boast it’s not what they say
Nor if they know
But how they say it
That gets them their way
Every time
Serving it up with a smile
And a cheerful, “sound good?”
They assume I will nod away
My common sense
Pick another pawn
Friend
I’m not being played-Heidi White 12/23/25
ANGER
Fuse short
Anger sparks often
Fueled by decades of pleasing
Of rolling over
Of conceding
Bulkshit meter in overdrive
“Calm down”
Is the kindling
For the fiercest of fires
How many times
They doubt
Each one
Carelessly chipping away
At their own fireproofing
Strike another match
I dare you-Heidi White 12/23/25
JUDGE
May we coexist
In a world
Where acceptance is the rule of the day
Love the only language
May we coexist
In a world
Without judgment
Where being
Is the becoming-Heidi White 12/23/25
REMEMBER
Will they remember
20 years from now
The pile of gifts
Or the warmth of sparkling lights
And mantle adorned with their stockings
Will they remember
Their head on my shoulder
A walk arm in arm
The feeling of a full house
Mess and all
The unconditional love and acceptance
Will they remember
That I loved fiercely
Imperfectly
Fully-Heidi White 12/23/25
HEARTS
Hearts follow me
Or is it that I follow them?
Seeing them in the trees
In the clouds
In the shape of a leaf
Or a rock on my path
Love is everywhere
I remind myself
I must continue to look
To see
Even if
I am the only one-Heidi White 12/23/25
WHAT’S THE PLAN
When the planner
Makes no plan
There is none-Heidi White 12/23/25
