Falling back is not falling behind
Happy Monday, beautiful being. In the past few days I’ve had alone time, but I craved connection. So I filled my days with 1:1 time with friends I haven’t seen in weeks and months. Conversations after time apart are especially enriching. Connection is a powerful salve. sending love, light and appreciation. Thank you for being here.
ABSENCE
In your absence
I fill the quiet
With endless motion
Is it for the purpose of
Escaping the swirl
Running from the words
Not yet ready
To live on paper
Or simply reverting to
My default setting
To do
To be
Productive
Where society places
The greatest value
How sad that I must do
To matter
When being
Is enough-Heidi White 9/22/25
ISLAND
For a month
She went missing
No longer just
Figuratively
On an island
Alone
But not lonely
Sea turtles
Steady waves
Island breezes
The sweet smell
Of plumeria
Sunsets
So many sunsets
All cost nothing
She returned to the mainland
Rich
With clarity
No longer willing to pay the price
Of one more minute
Lost-Heidi White 9/22/25
STILL
I sleep through the rumble
It is the train
That wakes me
Calls me to
Step outside
Eerily still waters
Dark skies
Littered with diamonds
Is it a calm before the storm
Or a delicious pause
To acknowledge
The vastness of the universe
Where wisdom is written
In the stars -Heidi White 9/22/25
CHASE
Are you chasing
What you truly want
Or chasing
For the sake of
Going after
What they think
You should want-Heidi White 9/22/25
FALL BACK
I’m ready to
Fall back
Into the healthy habits
Of yesterday
Into the cocoon of crisp air
Soup on the stove
The smell of cinnamon and apples
Falling back
Is not falling behind
It is a reset
To reflect on
What is important
A pre-hibernation of sorts
A season of reaping the bounty
I’m ready to
Fall back
To slower mornings
Moments of stillness
The subtle shift in the air
Appreciation for what is
Savoring the anticipation
Of what’s to come-Heidi White 9/22/25

Very nice sentiments, Heidi. I share them. Winter is now on its way, but I so love fall!
Thank you!
I love the groundedness and the nod back to nature. This series felt almost like the seasons. CHASE being summer? Am I crazy? LOL
Beautiful regardless of the time of year. Thank you Heidi.
